Föderation EN Mi 25.06.2025 23:58:52 I’m looking for a team chat solution that allows me to *really* mute/block users, like here on Mastodon or with an `/ignore` on IRC. Zulip and Discord don’t really mute/block messages, they only conceal their content and let you know they’re here. This doesn’t help much imho. Is this kind of `/ignore` feature available in #Matrix or #DeltaChat? |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 00:00:04 @fabi1cazenave blocking people work fine in matrix, but not blocking invites. |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 00:03:04 @nim What’s an “invite” in the Matrix context? |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 00:08:47 @fabi1cazenave anybody not already blocked can invite you in a private chat. You get a big red button, and can only accept or refuse, and that person will be notified. |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 00:12:18 @nim Oh, I see. So you can block but not mute, which can be a bit harsh in some cases. |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 00:10:25 @fabi1cazenave Just reading the XMPP newsletter (may), Gajim 2.2 implements blocking users in MUC… |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 00:13:12 @vpinon Oh. So even for XMPP, it’s not as common as I would’ve thought? |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 12:10:50 @fabi1cazenave #deltachat supports |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 12:28:43 @fabi1cazenave I would also like that if you block a person in #DeltaChat, their messages simply don't get displayed in groups you share with them, but to be honest unlike in other apps you mention, in Delta Chat there is no public groups, all groups are private and ideally with close people you know IRL, but in practice me and others use it to have Semi-Public groups and there ignoring some stranger to avoid getting dragged into discussions makes sense |
Föderation EN Do 26.06.2025 17:57:31 @fabi1cazenave Matrix has the same /ignore semantics as on IRC (i.e. blocked on the server: https://spec.matrix.org/unstable/client-server-api/#ignoring-users |
