I'd love my 'local' feed to be more aligned to ghost signs-related topics, eg history, urbanism, architecture, advertising, graphic design, etc.
Is there a nice (smaller?) instance I should consider moving to?
I'd prefer mastodon—I'm used to it now, and could bring my existing posts with me—but I would consider other fediverse services.
I'd be grateful for a #boost or two😀

@litherland I already get the local feed there via @blag so was thinking of having some diversity via a different instance for Ghostsigns.

@ghostsigns I'm curious about your reasons for wanting to "diversify". Do you want to reach a different/larger/more focused local audience, avoid relying on one server, or what?

@theohonohan This is not about reaching a new/different audience, rather me selfishly wanting more topical stuff in my 'local' feed.
Over at typo.social I get to see lots of interesting stuff from the wider type/lettering/graphic design community in my local feed, in addition to the folks I follow in my home feed.
I really like that experience, but currently with my instance here as mastodon.social, my local feed is just as random as the federated feed, and so not very interesting for me.

@ghostsigns I don't look at the local feed, myself, since it's not much good on my current instance. I don't hold out much hope of finding a good design or architecture instance, and as a whole I think the fediverse is just staggering along.

There are https://historians.social for history and https://urbanists.social for urbanism? They're both pretty reputable instances and they've been going since 2022.
