@phil_stevens @Vivaldi are there any risks due to Vivaldi using Chromium engine?

@hareldan @phil_stevens @Vivaldi There is no explicit "risk" involved building one's browser on Chromium – in fact quite the opposite, esp. on Android and Linux (comp. grapheneos.org/usage#web-brows )

However, it does foster the monopolistic position of Chromium's engine in contrast to it's only major competitor (that is in fact quite marginal) with Mozilla's Firefox. The marginal share is also in itself problematic for privacy. :firedoge:

@hareldan @Vivaldi Good question, and applicable to just about all browsers now :-(

@phil_stevens @hareldan @Vivaldi except, coincidentally, Firefox. 🫠

@Cstnskld @hareldan @Vivaldi Right, which was why I was pretty miffed at Mozilla and their consumption of the Koolaid. Monoculture only benefits the monopolists.
