Föderation EN Do 27.06.2024 00:10:51 Since I saw the pledge (https://vivaldi.com/blog/technology/vivaldi-wont-allow-a-machine-to-lie-to-you/) from the @Vivaldi team to keep weaponised bullshit generation out of their products, I've switched. Their position is consistent with their rejection of crypto scams and general approach to privacy. Mozilla lost this one. Adios FF. |
Föderation EN Do 27.06.2024 00:40:54 @phil_stevens @Vivaldi the other day I was sitting at my computer about to make the switch but I couldn't remember what Vivaldi browser was named. |

Föderation EN Do 27.06.2024 00:57:29 @phil_stevens I thought there was some sort of problem with Vivaldi. I swear I saw someone complaining on Mastodon about the company. |
Föderation EN Do 27.06.2024 01:29:58 @bananabob I recall having seen some rumblings, but in this case I'm just applying the lesser evil principle. I want to live and operate as far away from stochastic parrots as possible and anything I can do to deny them oxygen is a win. |
Föderation EN Do 27.06.2024 09:23:17 @phil_stevens @Vivaldi are there any risks due to Vivaldi using Chromium engine? |
Föderation EN Do 27.06.2024 10:01:12 @hareldan @phil_stevens @Vivaldi Risks ? 😅 About what part ? |
Föderation EN Do 27.06.2024 10:05:21 @hareldan @phil_stevens @Vivaldi There is no explicit "risk" involved building one's browser on Chromium – in fact quite the opposite, esp. on Android and Linux (comp. https://grapheneos.org/usage#web-browsing ) However, it does foster the monopolistic position of Chromium's engine in contrast to it's only major competitor (that is in fact quite marginal) with Mozilla's Firefox. The marginal share is also in itself problematic for privacy. |

Föderation EN Do 27.06.2024 11:57:44 @phil_stevens @Vivaldi I use Vivaldi because it's not a huge corporation. They focus on user privacy and usability plus it's Chromium based. |
