that this is one of the most popular posts on mastodon currently is a clear indication of how widely pervasive the reply-guy problem is here, and that its not just a few obnoxious person that contribute to the problem

when someone posts a link to a paywalled article, posting 'paywall-didnt read' is rude, obnoxious and simply unnecessary. the simply course of action is to ignore the post and move on. that nobody says so in the comments worries me

didnt realise i had the setting turned on for federation of pages as well, and a deletion of the page does not delete it from the rest of fedi

i did it, i found the peak of mastodon reply guy culture. and its complaining that "you should be able to opt out of being able to seeing all the replies to a post, because mastodon's current functionality where half the replies to posts are not visible due to badly implemented federation is good, actually"

If you compare comments on the post about The Conversation AU stopping using Mastodon, versus the engagement on the large majority of their regular posts (2 or less likes), than it seems to me that a lot of people are mainly interested in having news outlets here as a validation of 'their' network
