Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 01:23:15 The vulnerability reported in this post has already been patched, but I think the post is still valuable for its post mortem on how the fix was handled. https://fokus.cool/2025/03/25/pixelfed-vulnerability.html |
Föderation EN Mi 15.01.2025 00:27:00 One thing I really like about the fediverse is its high proportion of craftspeople. Woodcarvers, potters, knitters, paper crafts. Just loads and loads of people making stuff and showing the world on here. |
Föderation EN Di 12.11.2024 22:15:27 I wish we'd stop spreading this misconception: "The most important way [Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon] align is they all live on top of open, accessible protocols." https://www.augment.ink/bridges-the-last-network-effect/ Threads doesn't live on an open, accessible protocol. Its actual protocol is Instagram, which is proprietary. That's why, eleven months after Meta started testing federation—and eight months after it started letting fediverse users follow Threads accounts—you still can't follow a Mastodon account directly from Threads. |
Föderation EN Do 28.12.2023 21:40:50 @RnDanger @tchambers Full crash. Processes grounded to a halt. Even window swapping froze up. Everything went back to normal after Firefox terminated. Trying to reopen the window crashed it again. |
Föderation EN Do 28.12.2023 17:25:30 Oof, this seems Very Not Good: https://soapbox.pub/blog/threads-server-blocking/ A few non-Mastodon services have noticed their servers aren't fetching from Threads. Could be intentional blocks, could be temporary compatibility issues. But they're so eager to federate with Threads that they've decided to route around authorized fetch. Which could also be used to route around authorized fetch on Mastodon servers. Basically, eroding fediverse safety and privacy standards to force compatibility with #Threads. |
Föderation EN So 17.12.2023 00:02:13 I'm curious about how much we trust other platforms. (Boost if you're curious, too.) Let's say all three of these platforms started federating with Mastodon, Firefish, Pixelfed, etc. Which, if any, would you DOMAIN BLOCK or DEFEDERATE? Check all that apply. (Ivory users: Open this poll in a web browser—Ivory hasn't implemented multiple choice polls yet.) 55% Threads 488 Stimmabgaben, bis Mi 20.12.2023 00:02:13 |
Föderation EN Fr 15.12.2023 21:54:51 Since some people seem to think #Meta only harvests data about their own account holders: #Threads claims the right to collect data about you if you follow their users from Mastodon, interact with Threads posts, or allow Threads users to follow you or interact with your posts. https://help.instagram.com/515230437301944 h/t @mastodonmigration (reposted to add alt text) Medien: 1 |
