@petersuber As far as I understand it, it only bridges the Mastodon API to the bluesky API, so that you can use Mastodon Apps to publish to Bluesky. This sadly has nothing to do with interoperability between both networks!?!

@pfefferle
I said "steps toward interop", not interop itself. But yes, I could have said "baby steps".

Much of my work is for causes where even small steps in the right direction are hardwon and worth noting.

@petersuber or "no steps". Sorry but, the steps they take is to provide tooling to hook into existing apps.
While no steps into the direction of connecting people of different networks.

That's true and it was not meant offensive in any way!

It's just because I've had to explain the difference between the (proprietary) Mastodon API and ActivityPub far too often lately.

People usually confuse the two, so maybe I'm being a bit too pedantic when it comes to this topic.

I'm sorry if it sounded a bit rude, I didn't mean it that way 🙂

@pfefferle@mastodon.social @petersuber@fediscience.org the thing that might one day work to connect the two networks is also bridge but a different one... Bridgy fed.

I'd also quibble over the characterization of Bluesky being federated... they've enabled some pieces required for that puzzle to be completed in a limited way thus far. Those limitations are in part responsible for why Bridgy fed can't currently bridge the fediverse and Bluesky together.
