just swallowed my unfinished toot! 😑

I've double-checked a detail in the email client, and when I came back my labours of 5 minutes was gone!

I'm too old for shit like this. I'm a millennial, we kill things. *looks for a new fedi client*

Föderation EN So 15.12.2024 12:07:11

@platymew That's one of the things I fixed in pachli.app.

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 04:56:04

I'm switching from to .

πŸ‘€ see this thread (expand from OP), to find their website and how it's pronounced. πŸ˜…πŸ‘

Edit: that's them πŸ‘‰ @pachli
Edit2: i can't help myself - here's a hint πŸ‘‰ it's pronounced like [Pakh-lee] - they have a whole origin story on their website. (Switzer DΓΌtsch) πŸ˜… πŸ‘

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 12:58:24

@platymew @pachli there's also Current which gives a preview of 'the new stuff' between releases. And the chance to comment on/influence it.

I have found it very stable. Well worth checking out if you decide to stay with Pachli.

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 13:03:21

@kaybee335 @pachli HAHAHA, Dude! πŸ–– πŸ˜ƒ πŸ‘ …i've noticed that branch! I'm not that brave, though. Not quite yet. πŸ˜…

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 13:11:48

@platymew @pachli you can keep both installed on your phone if you are concerned about it.

I did that for the first month and then decided to free up the space. I have really never had a problem with a Current release.

They are generally small, incremental changes unless a major new feature is being previewed. They are also quite often in a part of the code that doesn't affect you (additional language support as an example).

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 13:16:57

@kaybee335 @pachli which "app store" are you using - i'm on .

Funny enough, i didn't have the latest repo sources - had to update, then upgrade to 2.9.0, via fdroid.

(this might be a battery saver issue, on Samsung …Edit: i might need to adjust my Fdroid settings)

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 13:42:35

@platymew @pachli I'm still on the Play store. Just haven't found the time or the proper trigger to get me moving yet.

There is an issue with making Current available on fdroid I believe. No support for nightly builds.

If this thread still reflects the state of things (Aug this year) I think you can only get Current from the Play store.

* you can also build it yourself from GitHub but I'm suspecting you probably don't want to go there πŸ˜‚

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 14:04:11

@kaybee335 @pachli well, i tend to be quite happy to report bugs*cough*issues on GitHub

…i actually have a particular one in mind - it rhymes with "unlimited zoom" …i'll have to double-check, whether i should just +1 an existing one or … πŸ˜… (not today, though)

Edit: imma not build it myself - hard nope! 🀣

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 14:27:54

@platymew @pachli definitely comment on things you have issues with on GH. But, as you say, check first.

There usually aren't that many true bugs open. They get squished pretty quick. I would say the majority of the issues usually fall in the feature request/improvement bin.

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 14:33:33

@kaybee335 @pachli yeah, my "unlimited zoom" (more than 2x) might fall into the feature request category, indeed. (not today, though - i'm quite tipsy, currently …i wouldn't dare to tipsy-type on GH 🀣 )

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 14:41:25

@platymew @pachli the author is usually pretty good at explaining why things can't be done.

I would suspect unlimited zoom would be one of those because it would likely require rewriting or finding a new image previewer library.

Just guessing though.

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 15:25:48

@platymew @kaybee335 Pachli uses github.com/MikeOrtiz/TouchImag, which has a default (but changeable) maximum zoom level of 3x.

Föderation EN Mo 16.12.2024 15:40:03

@pachli @kaybee335 WOW, that's fascinating! πŸ–– πŸ˜ƒ Thank YOU! πŸ₯°

I'm still too tipsy, and it's still not gonna be today… 🀣 🍻

edit: while we're at it - is the (2.9.0) double-tap-zoom advancing right up to 3x? (i'd recommend to make "the user" find out their personal limit of comfort, instead of "dictating" a UX - it's certainly gonna get somewhat blurry, but i think a 5x upper limit might just be enough for "the ageing population with small screens" …urgh, us pesky millennials …LOLπŸ˜… )
