I literally cannot use @matrix as a Discord alternative. I can't manage roles, I can't have people auto-join the correct rooms/spaces within the main space, I can't ban people from all spaces/rooms within a Space, I can't do voice/video calls without using a client with support for a Jitsi widget and hope the other person is ALSO using a client that supports widgets, its actually embarrassing how awful it is. And they take LITERALLY YEARS TO DO ANYTHING. All these issue will be addressed, but it's going to take a damn decade at the current rate of progress.

@rogueren There is definitely a lot of work to do! We appreciate you calling attention to the specific areas that are frustrating, that will help us calibrate priorities in discussions with the Spec Core Team.
Our hope is that the spec itself and the broader ecosystem will start to move a little more quickly as we have begun to staff the Foundation, fundraise, and aim to channel resources to areas that aren't getting enough attention.

@matrix PLEASE look at community management more, and space/room management. Currently its its a great alternative to something like Teamspeak, but is a nightmare to manage communities of multiple spaces/rooms within a space.

@rogueren 💯, we shall! One thing we're doing right now is applying for grants to fund development of new open source Trust & Safety tools that can make a meaningful dent in the community manager experience 🤞🏻

@TheEvilSkeleton @rogueren You are so welcome! We're grateful for y'all's support and will keep dialing up the transparency, and hopefully in so doing provide even more reasons to be hopeful about our future.
And we're excited about Sliding Sync too! Getting that, OIDC, native VoIP, and faster joins wrapped up and officially released in the spec is going to be a huge step forward.
