Doesn't do ironic liking. Loves open source, loathes "meritocracy". Tech is political. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈.
That's wench, not wrench.

Hostess of the movie review watch-a-long on Friday nights (US Central time).

Okay, let's try this.

I know that many will blame "containers" or "Google crap" (kubernetes).

I'm here to say, I ran a four node k8s cluster, one database node, and three web front ends, 2vCPUs and 600mb a piece. (Mb, you read that right.)

It was the boringest architecture: httpd, mod_php 8, Varnish 6. No nginx. No node. Not even php-fpm.

We ran 2TB of transfer a month out of that for three. years.

Content changed every 15 minutes.

@carithlee idk, everyone seems vaguely embarrassed/avoidant by the flag hanging out on the left there....which yeah, big mood.

@oldbooksmell It's hard not to smell the desperation. Isn't it?

"AI will solve [the nexus of climate collapse due to consumer capitalism] without [changing anything about self described
smart, white, cis, men being in charge or changing our lifestyle at all]!"

The new tower of babel, powered by Nvidia.

There's something about the latest kerfuffle with the MKBHD review that makes me glad I just...got off the techie hype train. At some point, I just stopped following all the major sites for that -- Engadget, The Verge, Ars -- because all of these are so faithfully dedicated to tech saviorism.

We shouldn't need cookie popups.

Ever.

GDPR does not specify you need cookie popups.

It specifies you need *consent* to collect private data.

"What private data?" you ask. All the crap which goes to Google Analytics.

You don't need a cookie popup if you don't use intrusive analytics.
