The @w3c WebFonts working group now has a fully functional Demo of Incremental Font Transfer which compares IFT to normal font loading with Unicode-range static subsetting. Just click on "next text sample" to see the font being upgraded in real time to support more writing systems and more font variation axes. There is a running total of bytes transferred, you can see that IFT loads much less data.

Both CFF2 and glyf fonts are used in the demo.

New (and hopefully, last until it becomes a W3C Standard) Candidate Recommendation of Portable Network Graphics (PNG) today.

An important new feature is Coding Independent Code Points (CICP) to identify the colorspace. I was thinking of blogging about it.

93% Great, no idea what CICP is
4% Great, heard of it but never used it
0% Dumb idea, ICC profiles are all I need
4% Meh, pretty sure I don't need this

New @w3c working draft of Incremental Font Transfer, which allows browsers to load only the portions of the font they actually need (speeding up font loads and reducing data transfer). A font can be loaded over multiple requests, where each request incrementally adds additional data.

The has published CSS Color HDR 1. This gives a way to control the presentation of HDR content such as video, images etc and also adds several HDR colorspaces to CSS (in addition to the WCG but SDR colorspaces that already exist).
