@kims If the other generals would have any spine, they would all quit on the spot.

@tsturm @kims Trump's replacement for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is a three-star general he's pulling out of retirement. He's passing over the entire population of active four-stars and three-stars to install this guy.

@jalefkowit @kims Sure, nothing like having the senior leadership of a powerful military hate the guy on top in times of uncertainty and upheaval.

Solid plan.

@tsturm @jalefkowit @kims Retired officers need to start doing PSAs about how and when to refuse illegal orders. Make the PSAs ubiquitous so everyone knows it backwards and forwards.

@vvandinsky @tsturm @kims The senior JAGs of the Army, Navy and Air Force were all removed tonight too. I haven’t seen word yet on who is to replace them.

@jalefkowit @vvandinsky @tsturm
That's the much bigger and more dangerous development. I'm counting on lawfedi to weigh in on that as I'm hardly the best person to explain why

@jalefkowit @tsturm @kims Someone mentioned they have to be active duty. Also mentioned the noob doesn't mét the legal requirements

@jalefkowit @tsturm @kims from Wikipedia;

On February 21, 2025, Caine was nominated by President Donald Trump to replace CQ Brown, whom Trump abruptly fired, as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. According to Trump, the two had previously met, with Caine telling Trump "I love you, sir. I think you’re great, sir. I’ll kill for you, sir." while wearing a MAGA hat.

That's pretty horrifying whether Trump is telling the truth or not.

@tsturm
I agree they should quit. That said, I hope they're staying with the thought, "Someone needs to be here to say 'No' when Trump orders us to shoot at citizens."

Sadly, I feel certain the loyalty tests will come much sooner than any of us hope. And those that fail will be immediately fired, or worse.

@tsturm

Umm how are they supposed to say no if they quit. Them quitting is like the absolute worst case scenario because then trump will just install loyalists.

Galder Gonzalez

@gnomekat @kims @tsturm those who remain are loyalists. That's why they remain.

@kims @tsturm
Quit? I’d prefer they removed all the magas and Doge idiots from the captitol and ran the country until the midterms.

A huge number of republicans are bared from serving in government by the 14th amendment. If neither the courts or the congress are going to uphold the constitution, I’d prefer the military did.

@Joe_Hill @kims @tsturm So we've come to a place now where we must hope for a military coup to stop the coup. 😬 (I agree.)

@tsturm Absolutely. But it seems there are only invertebrates in DC these days.
