I get a lot of "too many requests" errors randomly recently. any idea? thanks.

right now I love #ActivityPub. but something like a Personal Data Server that I can keep at home or pay somebody to manage, move whenever I want and connect to any new service that somebody develops, seems like the inevitable way forward. a blob with all my stuff as safe as I am willing pay for, where these companies are competing to be the most trustworthy and reliable. instead of having it spread out everywhere or with Google or Apple. and them pushing me to use their services. #SocialWeb

Can't we have a #FediForum main room monthly?

I understand that because of decentralization, the number of boosts and favorites that we see for each post would differ for each of us. What I don't understand is why these numbers change based on how I view the post. So far it appears that I see the full amount when not logged in, or in my mobile app but only after I click on "view boosts" or "view favorites". Otherwise I see many less on the browser or when just looking at the post on either. And it's the same number.

this was always possible on Twitter, except now the server could be your company's domain name. I'd assume that would be better for journalists.

we should set something like a cut off date. or maybe a month where beforehand, we focus on getting everyone set up over here and try to get them to duplicate all their relationships. then for that month, we encourage everyone to only use Mastodon. a concerted effort to see if we can overcome the network effect.
