@shellsharks The offering of so many services could certainly be it. However, if I click on Mastodon, and go with the 100 user plan, I still don't think that alone should be $106. I'm not saying it needs to be dirt cheap, but I think that $106 is just too much.

@cliffwade @jcrabapple Yeah agreed. Hard to swallow that price knowing how reliable and cheap the MH offering is.

Depending on your needs, you could theoretically and if you have the network capacity host your own instance at home if you have some spare hardware. I'm considering this as a project...
