Föderation GL Di 04.02.2025 23:24:00 It is not easy to accidently turn on Translate in Mastodon. You have to go a layer deep in settings, to set your posting language to the language your mastodon app uses. It doesn't say it's to turn on "offering to translate" - click here. It doesn't announce you turned on translate for your readers, your posts. Mastodon should have an obvious button, "TURN ON Translate" or some such, in a platonic way. |

Your post doesn't offer "Translate" at the bottom of your post, likely because the option was never obvious. Instead of telling you how to go into settings and set posts to the language of your app, I'm trying to get #Mastodon #coders to simplify and highlight the feature. |

Your instance "mastodon.gal" -- may not have turned on the translate APIs in their install of Mastodon, for example. @FediTips is a wonderful account, they may be able to explain how better than I. Föderation EN Mi 05.02.2025 15:22:23 If your server offers translation features, there will be a "translate" button at the bottom of posts in other languages. However, the translate feature depends on people choosing their own posting language correctly. Also, your admin has to pay for the translation service as it depends on a third party service, so some of them may have it switched off. Ask your server's admin if you're not sure. |
