I was expressing my concern over the sudden influx of large numbers of users, the consequences for the Mastodon instances, and the finances of Mastodon gGmbH. The fact that some users could run their own instances, and that they don't need to, are entirely orthogonal to my original concern. |

Checked now my statistics... and yes, there is a peak in the last two figures for mastodon.social. See mastodon.social close to 2,7 mio, mastodon.online close to 190k users. |
