@sloanlance firstly, moderation of the news section is entirely up to your instance's moderators. secondly, this feature isn't specific to megalodon; it's the same in the "official" mastodon android app (on which megalodon is based on). and thirdly, megalodon is dead (for the foreseeable future), you might want to switch to an app that's alive (like @moshidon)
