@stux honestly I'm fine with a bit of fireworks. We usually have an organization per town that takes care of decorating lampposts for Christmas, etc.

I'd be fine with every place having a fireworks show (or two, one early so the small kids can see) new years eve, and fireworks not being something everyone gets to dabble in.

It would greatly reduce the amount burnt off every year, it would increase safety. And it would also be a better looking show than what everyone is going in their yard
