Well, I can hear everyone clamouring to find out whether Bank of Scotland sorted out the online banking problem for me. Well another 2 hours on the phone today and the answer is....
NAW.
We are no further forward. I won't bore you with the details but the phone agents are as helpful as they can be, just without ability to do anything. It's a real system failure inn the both non-IT and IT senses.
Next step is a 140 mile trip to a branch to raise a complaint.

Rant alert:
I am literally quivering with rage.
Not just any old rage. The deep rage that modernity keeps in store for when you have to deal with banks.
Bank of Scotland unilaterally decided to stop sending statements by post (they're happy to send marketing guff by post) You now HAVE to use internet banking. Their systems are too stupid to link our different accounts.

Ho hum. Another day, another person noticing Goth Leo the #EV in the driveway, and carefully explaining to me that electric cars don't work, that hydrogen is the answer, that he's not interested until he can have at least 400 miles of range and that the charging infrastructure doesn't work. And he dispensed this wisdom without anyone asking him, or being able to get him to shut his tedious views up.

Scotland really should have a team.

A while back, I bemoaned the fact that just one of my favourite group of tech and other journalists & writers was not yet in the Fediverse after having followed them all & learnt from their writing for years in print and on TWSFKAT*.
Happy to say I have just seen a post from Carla Schroder @carlabean and all is once again well with the world.
