There should be a generalized client protocol, so that I can add my blog and my instance and react to DMs and comments from a single app

defines client to server communication.

is using its own client and several others are providing a more or less compatible API.

This post was written using using the Mastodon Client API using a instance using ActivityPub to federate... 😉

@nick does that mean it's possible already?

Depends on your needs... :-)

Implementations of usually seems to just use the server to server communication.

But the Client is used also in other projects, at least some endpoints.

Regarding flohmarkt, maybe you want to contact @grindhold@23.social (the developer) regarding support of client APIs.

P.S.: If you want to read more about ActivityPub, you may want to start with

@nick I don't really know how to interpret your answers tbh … What use is linking me the standard and giving me the contact of a good friend of mine 😌

@Profpatsch@mastodon.xyz

There exist a lot of apps, that make use of the Client .

There may exist some using C2S... and some using some other kind of API.

If you want to use one app with accounts on several server (or instance) types, the app (client) and the servers need to support the same type of API.

As one of them is flohmarkt and Grindhold is a friend of you, maybe just ask him regarding the API possibilities. Then you could see, if there is already an app existing, that supports all your wanted server types.
